1) What determines the architect of male that is generated in "guy movies"? Why was this architect chosen to please the general public?
2) How do you think movies should/could develop overtime in order to overcome "toxic masculinity" and avoid having a negative affect on young men who watch them?
In response to Briana's 2nd question, I believe that movies can portray masculinity that pleases all audiences without resulting to toxic masculinity-- like not allowing men to have feelings or praising them for destructive behavior because its "manly" or not allowing men in the movies to have any desires that may be considered "feminine".

Q1.) The article states that higher masculinity was correlated with lower self esteem, increased emotional distress, loneliness, and depression. Why do you think this is?

According to the article, the media (rap and hip-hop songs especially) contain themes of derogatory shaming and sexual objectification of women, legitimization of violence against women, and the celebration of prostitution. Would preventing children and adolescents from viewing "sexist"/ "hyper-masculine" subject matter reduce certain crimes against women? Or change common language used towards women? Why or why not?

a1. In response to Briana, Yes, masculine traits are necessary to drive specific audiences to them. I think there is a large audience of people (mostly men) who enjoy movies where characters have a lot of masculine qualities.
